Each year, our MartinConnects Grants Program accepts applications through the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville for our areas of focus: veterans, women & children, STEM, wellness and homelessness. Our MartinConnects giving fund is contributed to by our generous employees and every donation is matched dollar for dollar by MartinFed. This year, we are overjoyed to announce we’re donating $25,000 across seven outstanding organizations! These organizations were chosen by our MartinConnects committee, comprised of MartinFed employees that share a unique care for the communities around us.
Huntsville Learning Center – $4,000 (Alabama)
The Huntsville Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to providing at-risk children in the Huntsville area with the extracurricular support they need to succeed in school, build meaningful lives and careers for themselves, and become socially responsible members of society who are productive and competent lifelong learners.
ShowerUp Huntsville – $5,000 (Alabama)
ShowerUp serves those experiencing homelessness and anyone in need by providing mobile showers, hygiene resources, and personal care. It’s our goal to Shower Grace, Hope, and Love with everyone. ShowerUp is a non-profit organization.
Girls on the Run – $4,000 (Alabama)
Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Sheep Dog Impact Assistance – $6,000 (Arkansas)
Through our Get Off The Couch™ programming, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) is the national nonprofit providing charitable services benefitting the overall well-being of our nation’s Veterans and First Responders through Outdoor Adventures (physical activity), Warrior PATHH training (mental wellness) and Continued Service/Disaster Response (volunteerism) programs.
REBOOT Recovery, Inc. – $2,000 (Tennessee)
Our mission at REBOOT is to help people from all walks of life overcome trauma together through our faith-based programs.
Lemonade Day – $2,000 (Texas)
Lemonade Day’s mission is to help prepare youth for life through fun, proactive and experiential programs infused with life skills, character education, and entrepreneurship. The foremost objective is to help today’s youth become the business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow.
Fred Somerset Memorial Scholarship Program – $2,000 (DC/Maryland)
The mission of The Fred Somerset Memorial Scholarship Program, Inc. is to serve as a fund to promote community development and unity for youth, young adults, and their families who are negatively impacted by inequality and racial disparity in the areas of physical and mental health, literacy, education, finance, and cultural awareness, as well as to encourage educational advancement through the award of scholarships to deserving and financially challenged students.
These grants were presented at the Community Foundation of Huntsville’s Giving Tuesday presentation on November 28, 2023 at Torch Technologies in Huntsville, AL. MartinFed is dedicated to improving the communities in which our people live and work.
